TRUE LABOUR PAIN
- Uterine contractions comes at regular intervals.
- Contractions increase gradually.
- Increase interval and power of labour.
- “Show” present in labour.(“show” means profuse cervical secretion in labour.
- Duration between pains gradually becomes short.
- Presence of bulging fore water.
- The pain felt by the mother in true labour in abdomen, back, and groin.
- Cervical dilation and effacement present.
- In true labour pain is not relieved by sedation or enema.
FALSE LABOUR PAIN
- Pain comes at irregular interval.
- Power of pain does not progress in false labour.
- Interval between pain remain the same in false labour.
- Bulging of forewaters absent in false labour.
- In false labour, pain felt in the lower abdomen.
- Cervical dilation and effacement absent in false labour.
- In false labour mother feel painful uterine contraction but without having cervical dilation.
- Pain is relieved by sedation and enema.
